OIKO focuses on the application of new information technologies into climate change adaptation and mitigation measures, based on the best use and facilitation of access to scientific information, data and knowledge. We create exclusive applications through partnerships with software application developers and climate scientists to customize the tools to end users needs. Our applications are designed to be end user friendly, intuitive and action oriented.
OIKO creates services and design tools for monitoring, predicting and early warning of weather, water and climate events such as rainfall and climate-derived hazards that help anticipate in disasters risk response and preparedness and reduce their potential impacts, saving lives and limiting damage to assets and infrastructure, agriculture, coastal damage, energy, health and the environment.
We use Earth Science technology to improve the quality of life in our world, especially the economic livelihood opportunities of the world's most vulnerable populations and the sustainable use of the natural resources of our planet. Our work is divided in six main program areas- Climate Adaptation, Climate Mitigation, Ecosystems, Natural Resources, Poverty & Livelihoods and Climate Services.
